Ron Sockolov, MDDr. Ron Sockolov was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. He received a BS in Exercise Physiology and an MA in Human Physiology from UC Davis prior to pursuing an MD at UCLA. Dr. Ron returned to UC Davis to complete his residency. Since receiving his board certification in 1984, Dr. Ron has been practicing in Sacramento, as well as acting as the Team Physician for Sacramento State University. In addition, Dr. Ron has been a principal investigator for Sockolov Medical Research for 12 years. As such, he has been on the forefront of investigational research in several areas including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, arthritis, migraines, and infected wounds, among others.
Alvin Sockolov, MDDr. Alvin Sockolov was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. He received a BS in Physiology from UC Davis prior to pursuing an MD at UCLA. Dr. Alvin then returned to Davis to complete his residency at UC Davis. He has been serving the Sacramento area since receiving his board certification in 1983. In addition to being an active family practice staff member at both Mercy General Hospital and Sutter Community Hospitals, Dr. Alvin is a principal investigator for Sockolov Medical Research, participating in studies related to hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, arthritis, migraines, and infected wounds, among others.
Eddy Joelson, MDDr. Joelson attended UC Berkeley, where he received a BA with Highest Distinction in Molecular and Cell Biology, with an emphasis in Neurobiology. As an undergrad, Dr. Joelson was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, as well Phi Beta Kappa, an honor society. Dr. Joelson attended medical school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UC Davis in 2007, with an additional postdoctoral fellowship in geriatrics. In addition to working with Sockolov & Sockolov, Dr. Joelson provides his services to the Oakland Raiders on an as needed basis.
Larry Saltzman, MDDr. Larry Saltzman received his BS degree from Washington University. He attended the Chicago Medical School, where he became a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Fraternity and graduated with honors as the class Valedictorian. Dr. Saltzman returned to California to complete his residency and internship at UC Davis in Family Practice. He has been serving the Sacramento area since receiving his board certification in 1981. Dr. Saltzman's practice of medicine is prevention focused and his ultimate goal is to help patients to achieve self-management with or without medication. In addition to working with Sockolov and Sockolov, Dr. Saltzman believes in living an active lifestyle and he has personally completed 14 marathon runs.
Lisa Swensson, MDDr. Swensson attended UC Davis, where she received a bachelor of science and psychology. She attended medical school at UC Davis, where she also completed her residency in 2004. She's board certified in family practice, with the special interest in women's health and preventive care.
Deborah Petteway, PA-CDeborah attended CSU Sacramento, where she receieved a BS in Biological Sciences, with Minors in Chemistry and Spanish. She then attended UC Davis to receive her PA certification. Deborah has provided care for private, public, and not-for-profit sectors.
Leah Gumpert, RN, FNPLeah attended UC San Diego where she received a BA in History before moving on to attend Samuel Merritt University, completing her RN licensure and then Master of Science degree in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner certification. Leah was born and raised in Sacramento, CA and has enjoyed being part of the family practice team at Sockolov & Sockolov.
Erin Geiger, PA-CErin attended UC Davis where she earned her Bachelor degree in Psychology and a minor in Neuroscience. She then attended Touro University to earn a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and a Master of Public Health. When not working at the Sockolov family practice, she enjoys hiking and camping with her husband, as well as cooking and running.
Mollie Schneider, PA-CMollie attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she earned her BS in Psychology. She then went on to earn a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and a Master of Public Health at Touro University in Vallejo, CA. When not working at Sockolov & Sockolov, Mollie enjoys reading, going to the movies and spending time with family and friends.
